Stephenson Reassigned To Reading

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have reassigned center Shay Stephenson to the ECHL's Reading Royals, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Stephenson, 22, has appeared in six games with the Monarchs since his recall from Reading on December 31 and has zero points and four penalty minutes. He has 14 points (8-6=14) and 10 penalty minutes in 25 games with the Royals this season. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound native of Outlook, Saskatchewan, played for the Sundsvall Bobcats in Sweden during the 2004-05 season. Stephenson collected 26 points (13-13=26) and 104 penalty minutes in 44 games with the Bobcats. The center signed a multi-year entry-level contract with the Kings on August 17, 2005.

The Monarchs continue on their four-game road trip with a stop at the Omaha Civic Auditorium on Friday, January 20 with an 8:00 p.m. (EST) face-off with the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights. The team will finish off the weekend with stops in Iowa on Saturday and Peoria on Sunday.
