Rivermen schedule January community appearances

Peoria, IL (January 19, 2006) - Director of Community Relations Angie Sammons of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that various members of the Rivermen will be out and about around the Peoria area to make three community appearances during the remainder of the month of January.

The first of these three events will take place at the Peoria Heights Grade School on Wednesday, January 25. Rivermen center Blake Evans and right wing Colin Hemingway will visit the school to discuss with second-grade students there the role that participation in sports can play in a well-rounded education.

On Thursday, January 26, three other Rivermen will make an appearance at the Advance Auto Parts store located on University Street in Peoria. This event will be an opportunity for fans to meet Rivermen defenseman Zack Fitzgerald, left wing Charles Linglet, and defenseman Mike Stuart. The players will be available to greet fans and sign autographs from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on that evening.

The U. S. Cellular retail store located on Pioneer Parkway in Peoria will be the location of the final Rivermen community appearance in January. There on Tuesday, January 31, Rivermen defensemen Trevor Byrne and Aaron MacKenzie will stage a meet-and-greet session with fans from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
