The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce that Washington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to start for the Chiefs Wednesday, July 29th on an upcoming rehab assignment. Strasburg is slated to start Syracuse's 7:05 game at NBT Bank Stadium against the Buffalo Bisons. Strasburg is currently working his way back from the Nationals' Disabled List for the second time this season after suffering an oblique injury on July 4th.

Strasburg, 27, has posted a 5.16 ERA in 13 starts this year in an injury-plagued season. However since returning from his first DL stint this year on June 23rd, the right-hander has posted a 1.15 ERA in three starts. Last season, Strasburg was 14-11 with a 3.14 ERA in 34 starts. Strasburg was tied for first in the National League in strikeouts (242) and starts (34) and was fifth in innings pitched (215.0).

A six-year Major-League veteran, Strasburg owns a career 3.21 ERA with 809 career strikeouts in 122 starts. Strasburg was named a Major-League All-Star for the Nationals in 2012 and helped lead Washington to NL East division titles in 2012 and 2014.

2015 will mark Strasburg's third year with the Chiefs. He started six games in 2010, posting a 1.08 ERA as the then-top-rated pitching prospect in the Nationals system. Strasburg also started one game in 2011 on a Major-League rehab assignment while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

The Chiefs will play the Buffalo Bisons, who feature former Yankees right-hander Joba Chamberlain, during Wednesday's start and every day during a four-game Monday-Thursday series.
