
Steik comes off DL, Polanco promoted

Fort Wayne, IN - The Wizards, in conjunction with the San Diego Padres, announced today, that right-hander Ricky Steik has been activated from the disabled list and right-hander Phil Polanco has been promoted to the Padres' Triple-A team in Portland, Oregon.
Steik landed on the disabled list on August 14. He is 0-5 with three saves for Fort Wayne with a 2.30 earned run average. In 52 relief appearances and 58 2/3 innings, he has allowed 52 hits, 22 walks and struck out 51.
This was Polanco's send trip to Fort Wayne after signing with the Padres as a non-drafted free agent this year. He is 1-3 with a 6.20 ERA in 26 games, including one start. In 45 innings of work, he has allowed 51 hits, 23 walks and struck out 33. For the month of August, Polanco was 0-0 with a 3.60 ERA in 11 appearances. In 25 innings he allowed 22 hits, 10 walks and struck out 14.
