Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING, Michigan - The Lansing Lugnuts announced today that starting tonight and running through the remainder of the 2005 season, Lugnuts fans will have the opportunity to help victims of Hurricane Katrina by making monetary donations at Oldsmobile Park.

Lugnuts staff members will be serving as the collectors at tables that will be set up throughout the ballpark. All of the monies raised will be sent directly to the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Mid-Michigan Chapter will then ensure all donations collected locally will be sent to American National Red Cross's Disaster Relief Fund, supporting victims of Hurricane Katrina.

"Our hearts go out to the victims of the tragic events and we hope in some small way our efforts this weekend can bring some relief and some hope to an area that desperately needs a lot of both right now," said Tom Dickson, owner of the Lansing Lugnuts.

The Lugnuts and West Michigan Whitecaps open a four-game series tonight at Oldsmobile Park and the chance for fans to contribute towards the relief efforts will run through Monday's afternoon contest. For more information, please contact Valerie Claus at (517) 485-4500, ext. 270 or Sarah Clevenger, Community Relations Coordinator for the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross at (517) 702-3349.
