Brampton Steelheads News Release

Netminder Joe Ranger registers his first career OHL shutout as the Steelheads cruise past the Ottawa 67's 3-0.

First Period

The Steelheads were looking to extend their winning streak on the road against the Ottawa 67's in tonight's game. In the opening period, the Steelheads controlled the pace with great defensive play and puck control. Steelheads' starting goaltender Joe Ranger stood tall between the pipes, stopping all four Ottawa 67's shots, including a nice pad save on Ottawa's Thomas Johnson.

The Steelheads' power-play unit went to work on two occasions late in the period. Despite producing several shots on goal with the extra man, the Steelheads couldn't muster a goal past 67's netminder Will Cranley.

Second Period

It was a solid second period for the Steelheads. James Hardie struck first at the 1:21 mark, courtesy of a quick pass from Ty Collins, shooting the puck past Cranley blocker side for the 1-0 lead, earning his 10th goal in 12 games. Kasper Larsen also received credit for the assist.

The Steelheads struck again at the 7:40 mark, with James Hardie forcing the turnover, passing the puck to Luca DelBelBelluz, who shot the puck through the blocker side of the Ottawa goaltender for the 2-0 lead.

Ranger and the league's third-ranked penalty kill rose to the challenge on both occasions in the middle frame.

Steelheads' Ranger kept the 67's offence at bay, highlighted by a nice blocker save on Ottawa's Jack Matier. The Steelheads' penalty kill stood their ground in their only appearance in the final frame.
