Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs collided with the Peterborough Petes for the second time this season on Friday in a back & forth contest that saw Gavin White score a late 3rd period goal to lift the Bulldogs to a 4-2 victory.
The Bulldogs came out of the gates storming in the first period, barely letting the Petes out of their own zone for the first few minutes. A parade to the penalty box followed for the Bulldogs however, 3 back-to-back calls would be killed off by the strong Bulldogs power-play, backstopped by Matteo Drobac. At 15:31 of the opening period the Bulldogs would return to the advantage, on a power-play of their own George Diaco hit Nathan Staios with a pass at the top of the umbrella that Staios would get through traffic for a Jan Mysak tip past Michael Simpson, Mysak 's 7th of the year, sending the Bulldogs to the locker room up 1-0.
The Bulldogs doubled their lead to open the second period, once again on the power-play, Logan Morrison drew the puck back to the line where Nathan Staios exchanged the puck with George Diaco who rifled a shot past Simpson for his 6th of the year at 3:54. It wouldn 't be that simple for the Bulldogs however as a 5-minute match penalty to Artem Grushnikov for slew-footing saw the Bulldogs forced to kill a major power-play. Despite the best efforts of Matteo Drobac, the Petes struck at 18:45 through Nick Lardis to send the game to the rooms with a 2-1 score.
Peterborough would open the 3rd with a bang as Jax Dubois would take a turnover shorthanded and tie the game at 1:00. The period saw the Bulldogs press continuously and it finally paid dividends at 16:07 as Mark Duarte was knocked down skating through neutral ice but managed to get the puck to Gavin White jumping in the play and off the right-wing side just below the top of the circle White blew a wrister past Simpson, his 2nd of the season, for what would stand as the game winning goal. Jan Mysak would hit the empty net at 18:10 for his 2nd of the game & 8th of the season with Morrison & Diaco adding assists, their 2nd and 3rd points of the night. Matteo Drobac made 25 saves for his 3rd victory of the season.
The Hamilton Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, November 13th hosting the Ottawa 67's at 4:00pm.
