Steelheads Announce Opening Day Roster

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads will drop the puck on the 2007-08 season in defense of the ECHL's Kelly Cup on Friday with an Opening Day roster that includes 13 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goaltenders. Two players will begin the season on the injured reserve list.

Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Laxdal said, "This will be an exciting and emotional night for myself and the players as we watch the Kelly Cup Championship banner lowered and receive our rings."

Eleven players will return from last year's championship team including Marty Flichel, Blake Forsyth, Darrell Hay, Taggart Desmet, Alexander Naurov, Greg Rallo, Lance Galbraith, John Lammers, Kory Scoran, Travis Wight, and John Daigneau.

Laxdal has named Flichel Team Captain, and Hay and Forsyth as Alternate Captains.

The roster includes three veterans (Flichel, Hay and Galbraith) and eleven rookies. A full list is included below and a detailed roster attached.

Forwards: Taggart Desmet, Colin Sinclair, Marty Flichel, Mark Bomersback, Alexander Naurov, Greg Rallo, Matt Craig, Brent Shepheard, Lance Galbraith, John Lammers, Aaron Gagnon

Defensemen: Kory Scoran, Jean-Sebastian Adam, Travis Wight, Blake Forsyth, Craig Cescon, Jeremy Scherlinck, Darrell Hay

Goaltenders: John Daigneau and Kellen Briggs

Injured reserve list: Forwards Liam Huculak 3-day IR, Mike Sullivan 7-day IR

The Steelheads will unveil the 2007 Kelly Cup Championship banner at the 2007-08 season home opener on Friday, October 19th against the Victoria Salmon Kings.
