Inferno receive Perry

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 17, 2007)- The Columbia Inferno have received defenseman Todd Perry from the Toronto Marlies, Inferno head coach and director of hockey operations Troy Mann announced today. The club also released defenseman Tim Songin and forwards Chris Myers and Sean Offers from their contracts.

Perry played the 2006-07 season with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, where he tallied 19 points (one goal, 18 assists) and 129 penalty minutes in 67 regular season games. He also had six points (two goals, four assists) and 36 penalty minutes in 16 playoff games with the Knights last year.

"I am very excited to have Todd with us to begin the season," Mann said. "He is a very solid, young stay-at-home defenseman with some good offensive upside."

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound native of Ingleside, Ontario spent three seasons in the OHL with the Barrie Colts and London. During his junior career, Perry recorded 51 points (five goals, 46 assists) and 340 penalty minutes in 163 career regular season games. In addition, the 20-year-old Perry logged 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and 78 penalty minutes in 36 career OHL playoff games.
