
Steelheads Add Four New Faces

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads today added a Russian, a Czech and two Canadians to their roster, and lost an American in a trade.
Idaho's head coach John Olver traded Michigan native Chris Gobert to the San Diego Gulls for forward Miguel Delisle. Both are centers. Delisle, a 6'1, 205-pound Ontario, Canada native, was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in round 4, #100 overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Most of his career has been spent in the Ontario Hockey League where he scored 160 goals and 168 assists in five seasons. He spent time in the Chicago Blackhawks training camp in 2002-03. After joining the Gulls late in the 2002-03 season, Delisle scored 3 goals and 3 assists in only 6 games. He started this season with the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, before once again joining the Gulls roster. Delisle will be reunited on Idaho's roster with former teammates and linemates, Lance Galbraith and Zenon Konopka. Together, they won an Ontario Hockey League championship and advanced to win the Memorial Cup (Canadian Junior National Championship).
Two veteran forwards were also signed today by Olver. Russian-born Andrei Vasilyev (pronounced: On-dray Vas-ill-ee-ev) was selected by the New York Islanders in round 11, #248 overall in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, and played a total of 15 games with the team, scoring 2 goals and 5 assists. He also played one game with the NHL Phoenix Coyotes. He has also played for several teams in the International Hockey League, Russian League and lastly in the Swedish Elite League. Jason Payne's career spans nine years and seven leagues, including the OHL, IHL, AHL, ECHL, UHL. He spent most of last season with the AAA AHL Saint John Flames. Before coming to Idaho, the 6'1, 195-pound Payne played 5 games with the UHL Flint Generals.
In addition, twenty-two year old forward Martin Adamsky was added to the roster. He has played two seasons with the Czech Extra League, having never played in North America. The 6'2, 195-pound Czech native tallied 8 goals and 10 assists in 57 games.
The Idaho Steelheads take on the San Diego Gulls for a two-game set starting tonight, before returning home for three-games against the Bakersfield Condors on December 17th, 19th and 20th.
