BEAUMONT, TX (December 12, 2003) – Texas Wildcatters Head Coach Robert Dirk announced today the Wildcatters have signed forward Mike McKay to a contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 27-year-old McKay played along side Wildcatters forward Bobby Cunningham in the 2002-03 season with the Laval Chiefs of the QSPHL. The 5-foot-10 195 pound forward is entering his fifth professional season and will wear number 21 for the Wildcatters. While playing for the Fort Wayne Komets in the 2000-01 season, he scored a career high 38 goals.

"Mike will bring speed and skills to our line-up," said Dirk. "He will be an asset to the team and will provide balance on the ice."

To make room on the roster for McKay, the Wildcatters' waived forward Aaron Smith.

The Wildcatters travel to Louisiana on Friday to take on the IceGators at 7:05 p.m. The team will return home for a pair of games, Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday at 5:05 p.m., against the Pensacola Ice Pilots.

Saturday, December 13th is Teddy Bear Toss Night. Bring a teddy bear or stuffed toy and throw it on the ice after the Wildcatters score their first goal of the evening. All toys will be donated to the Toys for Tots to provide some cheer to those less advantaged.
