Balan Recalled to Norfolk

FLORENCE, SC -- The Florence Pride, proud members of the ECHL, announced today that defenseman Scott Balan has been recalled by the Pride's AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. Balan will be uniform tonight as the Admirals host the Hershey Bears.

Balan has appeared in all 21 games for the Pride this season, posting four assists and 38 penalty minutes. Balan was assigned to the Pride by the Admirals just prior to the start of the season. Last season, he appeared in 15 games for Norfolk, without registering a point and posting 27 penalty minutes.

Balan was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fourth round (#106 overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

The Pride are in action tonight, playing on the road against the Roanoke Express. All of the action on WDAR Sunny 105.5 FM starts with the Palmetto Chiropractic Pre-Game Show at 7:10.

Florence returns home tomorrow night to host the Express at 7:30. It's the Pride's annual Teddy Bear Toss Night. All fans are encouraged to bring a new, plush toy to the game and throw it on the ice after the Pride score their first goal. All of the toys collected will be donated to WBTW News 13's Toys for the Territory campaign. Sunda afternoon, the Pride host the Augusta Lynx at 2:30. It's another Sunday Kids' Day, with tickets for all kids 12 and under available for just $2.50, and kids' meals will also be available for an additional $2.50.
