
Maxwell Returns, Lupandin Goes on IR

BILOXI, Miss. â Mississippi Sea Wolves coach and director of hockey operations Bob Woods announced today that right wing Roger Maxwell has been activated from the 7-day injured reserve, while defenseman Andrei Lupandin (AHWN-dray lew-PAHN-dihn) has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve. In other news, goaltender Chuck Thuss has been signed as an emergency backup goaltender.
Maxwell, 28, returns to the lineup after missing five games. The 6-foot-3 and 240-pound native of Brampton, Ontario has appeared in 19 games this season, tallying three goals and seven points, while being tied for fourth in the ECHL with 117 penalty minutes.
Lupandin, 25, has played 18 games with Mississippi this season, collecting three goals and 12 points along with 14 penalty minutes.
Thuss, 31, is in his third season as Mississippi's Director of Player Development. The former goaltender played professionally for seven years, including four seasons with Mississippi. In 1998-99, Thuss won the Fan Favorite Award and was a member of the Sea Wolves ECHL Kelly Cup Championship team. He is Mississippi's all-time goaltending leader with 58 wins and eight shutouts. In 120 contests with the Sea Wolves, Thuss compiled a 58-39-10 record, 2.88 goals against average and .911 save percentage.
Mississippi hits the ice at 7:05 p.m. tonight at the Pensacola Civic Center against the Ice Pilots. The game broadcast begins at 6:50 p.m. with the Nextel Pregame Show on WXBD-AM 1490 and online at www.msseawolves.com.
The Sea Wolves next home game is at 7:35 p.m. tomorrow against the Louisiana IceGators at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Promotions include "Hook's Holiday Toy Drive". The Sea Wolves mascot, Hook, is asking fans to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the game for delivery to the pediatric floor at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.
