-SPIKES CONTINUE SERIES AGAINST SCRAPPERS: The State College Spikes continue their 10th Season tonight as they play the middle game of a three-game series against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The series is the second of the year between the Spikes and Scrappers, with a four-game, three-day set on the slate to end August and begin September. State College a pair of games from Mahoning Valley at Eastwood Field on June 25-26. The Spikes are now just a half-game back of the New York-Penn League Wild Card lead, with the Scrappers also part of a crowded playoff hunt.

-LAST GAME: The State College Spikes, bolstered by their Jerome Bettis Gold Jacket Jerseys, got a strong pitching effort from Jorge Rodriguez and delivered a big second inning to earn a 4-1 victory against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Sunday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. On the field, Rodriguez produced his best home start of the year after an early rough patch. The right-hander gave up a run in the first inning but got out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam with a double play ball. The Spikes broke out in the second inning as Jesse Jenner led off with a single and scored on Cole Lankford's first double of the night. Lankford then crossed the plate on Jhohan Acevedo's double, with an error plating Acevedo to make it a 3-1 game. State College tacked on another run in the seventh when Lankford began the frame with his second double and scored on R.J. Dennard's two-base hit.

-MARTINEZ ON THE MOUND FOR SPIKES TONIGHT: Right-hander Dailyn Martinez gets the ball for State College this evening. Martinez allowed just one run on three hits and a walk over six innings last time out on Wednesday against Batavia, but did not receive the decision. The Santiago, Dominican Republic native struck out two batters in the effort. Martinez has delivered a quality start of six innings with three or less earned runs in each of his last two appearances, and has limited leadoff hitters to a .171 batting average.

-SCRAPPERS SEND LINARES TO HILL: Mahoning Valley will put right-hander Leandro Linares on the mound tonight for his ninth start of the year. Linares took the loss against the Spikes back on June 26, but yielded just one unearned run on two hits and two walks over five innings. Last time out, the Villa Clara, Cuba native allowed five runs, four of them earned, over 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision against Williamsport. Linares has not gone longer than five innings in any start this season, while walking at least two batters in every outing except one.

-FIVE SPIKES HEADED TO NYPL ALL-STAR GAME: Casey Grayson, Leobaldo Pina, Mike Pritchard, Landon Beck and Juan Perez were all selected to the South roster for the 2015 New York-Penn League All-Star Game, as announced by the league on Saturday. The quintet ties a Spikes record for most players headed to the annual showcase of future stars, last set in 2013. The All-Star Game is set to take place on Tuesday, August 18 at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, home of the Aberdeen IronBirds.

-DICKERSON MAKES MLB DEBUT: 2011 Spike Alex Dickerson became the 29th player to go from State College to the major leagues on Thursday when he pinch-hit in the eighth inning for the San Diego Padres against the Milwaukee Brewers. Dickerson had been called up by the Padres earlier in the day.

-SPIKE MARKS: Last night's Gold Jacket Jerseys in honor of Jerome Bettis and his induction into Canton this weekend raised $7,000 for Children's Miracle Network...Grayson is now third in the league with a .325 batting average, and is third in the league in hits with 51...Pritchard is second in the league in runs scored with 31...Beck, who has 17 strikeouts in his last 11 1/3 innings, is now third in the league in whiffs with 44...Josh Swirchak's four triples are tied for third-most in the NYPL...Rodriguez moved into fifth place in the NYPL in ERA at 2.49 with last night's start
