Stars Travel to Des Moines

Lincoln, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (16-8-0) travel to take on the Des Moines Buccaneers (8-13-2) for the fifth of eight meetings between the teams this season.

The Stars sit atop the Western Conference with a league-leading 32 points after beating the Omaha Lancers, 4-2, on Friday night at the Ice Box. Lincoln has gone 5-5-0 in its last 10 games.

Des Moines has lost six of its last seven games and is winless in its last five home games. The Bucs did not play on Friday.

The seasons series is tied 2-2 with the Bucs having won the teams' last meeting, 3-2, at the Ice Box on Nov. 28. The Stars won, 3-1, at Des Moines on Oct. 17.

Sunday vs. Omaha - (4-2 W)

The Stars took their second win of the season against the Lancers on Friday at the Ice Box with two-point nights from Patrick Polino and Biagio Lerario. Lincoln never trailed in the game. Patrik Virtanen made 30 saves.

Stars Lately - The Stars lead the USHL with 32 points, having scored more than any team in the Western Conference. Lincoln has gone 5-5-0 in its last 10 games. The Stars are the only team with four scorers in the league's Top 20.

Scouting Des Moines - The Bucs have dropped six of their last seven games and are winless in their last five home games. Kenny Hausinger leads Des Moines with five goals and 10 assists - he is one of five players on the Bucs roster with 10 or more points.

Rep' The Country - The Stars are losing two top forwards to international play for the next four games. Ludvig Hoff is playing for Team Norway in the IIHF Division I World Junior Championship in Vienna, Austria. Grant Jozefek is playing for Team USA in the World Junior A Challenge in Cobourg and Whitby, Ontario. Both tournaments run from Dec. 13-19.

'Murica - Grant Jozefek had two goals in Team USA's 8-2 rout of Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge.

Stars vs. Bucs - The Stars are 1-2-0 vs. the Bucs this season, losing the teams' most recent meeting, 3-2, at the Ice Box on Nov. 28. Lincoln won its only game in Des Moines, 3-1, in Buccaneer Arena.

Polino Commits - Patrick Polino committed to R.P.I. on Wednesday, becoming the 18th NCAA commit on the Stars roster. Polino is in his fourth USHL season and has 193 games played.

Primeau Joins - The Stars added Chayse Primeau as a replacement player for the next four games. Primeau will serve as a replacement while Ludvig Hoff and Grant Jozefek are playing internationally.

Helping Hand - Adam Brady has five assists in the last five games.

Jersey Auction Success - The Stars raised more than $20,000 for Make-A-Wish Nebraska with their jersey auction on Saturday night. The Stars also collected and delivered hundreds of teddy bears to Community Action, a local non-profit, as a part of the annual Teddy Bear Toss.

Trade Made - The Stars acquired defenseman Alex Green from the Muskegon Lumberjacks for defensemen Christian Hausinger last week. Green has four shots and 12 PIMS in 8 games this season.

Overtime Heroes - Lincoln is 3-0-0 in overtime and shootouts this season. Jozefek and Hoff have the Stars' overtime winners.

(Super) Power Play - The Stars have the best power play in the league, scoring on 25.8% of chances (23-89).

Scoring By Committee - 16 Stars have scored goals and 19 have registered points. Alex Green is the only skater without a point.
