Tri-City Storm News Release

Kearney, Ne. - The Tri-City Storm earned a point for the fourth straight game, dropping in overtime to the Bloomington Thunder, 2-1, on Brogan Rafferty's overtime goal Saturday at the Viaero Center.

Starting from the right circle, Rafferty pushed the puck towards the net in four-on-four action, ramping it up in the air and over the goaltender Dayton Rasmussen four minutes into the extra session. Rasmussen made 26 saves on 28 shots in his second Storm start.

Paul Washe scored for the Storm late in the second, helping Tri-City get past regulation for the second straight day against Bloomington. The goal brought 3,652 to its feet, the largest crowd to watch the Storm at the Viaero Center this season.

Logan Halladay denied the Storm after Washe's goal, making 28 saves for his second win.

After a scoreless first, Washe crashed the net for the game's first goal, finding the puck and firing amidst traffic past Halladay with 3:22 left in the middle frame. Justin Dixson inadvertently shot the puck to Washe by firing on Halladay. Jack McNeely took the secondary helper.

Washe has points in three straight games (2g, 3a), including two multi-point efforts, to boost to four goals and three assists this season. Dixson has four helpers, three in the last three games.

The Thunder responded at 3:34 of the third on Blake Gober's power-play jam-shot in front of Rasmussen. Gober surprised Rasmussen by wrapping around to the left post. Rasmussen stopped the initial chance, but could not hold the rebound.

Former Storm player Patrick Curry nailed down the primary assist and Jeremy Davies collected the secondary helper. Bloomington finished 1-for-4 on the power play and stopped all three Storm opportunities.

The tying goal set the stage for the Storm's seventh overtime game, tied with the Thunder for most in the league.

Rafferty's game-winning goal, his first of the season at 3:51 of overtime, was assisted by Butrus Ghafari and Jake Slaker.
