Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

The Des Moines Buccaneers lost the first two matchups with the Lincoln Stars but have won the last three in the season series after a 4-1 victory at Buccaneer Arena Saturday night.

On Teddy Bear Toss Night the Buccaneers' Kenny Hausinger got the fur flying when he backhanded the puck into an empty net while facing away from the goal as he collected the rebound from a Justin Howell shot at 10:18 of the first period. Zach Jordan doubled the Bucs' lead at 13:32 of the first when he took a long stretch pass from the blueline and cut in while fighting off a man and beat Stars' goalie Peyton Jones low as the Buccaneers outshot the Stars 14 to 9 in the first twenty minutes.

The Buccaneers kept up their strong play and limited Lincoln's opportunities to a minimum in the second period. Jan Ruzicka made his best save of the game in the second on a close-range shot from Paul Polino and the Buccaneers extended their lead at 16:24 of the second when Nikita Pavlychev from behind the goal hit Ty Pelton-Byce on the tape and Pelton-Byce went upstairs for the third goal of the game.

Lincoln's lone goal of the game came from their captain at 13:10 of the third period as Adam Brady slid the puck from the left circle to the right and Biagio Lerario slammed it home. That's as close as the Stars would get as Jan Ruzicka made 26 saves in the win and Kenny Hausinger scored his second goal of the game in an empty net at the 18:56 mark of the third. Des Moines finished with 36 shots on goal in the game.

Up next for the Buccaneers is a home date with the rival Omaha Lancers on Friday, December 18th at Buccaneer Arena.
