Lincoln Stars News Release
Lincoln, Neb. - Powered behind a three-point night from forward Will D'Orsi, the Lincoln Stars earned a 6-4 win against the Tri-City Storm on Friday at the Ice Box.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first, leaving it 0-0 after 20 minutes.
Lincoln put the pressure on in the second period, putting three goals on the board.
D'Orsi opened up the scoring at 4:38 of the second period, firing a rocket shot off of a faceoff. Ludvig Hoff continued his scoring ways adding a goal on the power play at the 8:18 mark of the period. Roughly one minute later, Henry Bowlby scored on a breakaway chance to give the Stars a 3-0 lead after two periods of play.
The third period was filled with goals for both squads.
Storm defenseman Mattias Goransson scored on the power play at 7:27 of the third. Forward Joe Cipollone then added another on the power play at 8:23 to make it 3-2.
Lincoln replied with two goals. Forward Sam Kauppila scored at the 10:35 mark, then defenseman Christian Evers scored on a slap shot at the 11:56 mark of the period to make it 5-2.
Tri-City added two more goals on the power play in the third period from Goransson and forward Carson Meyer. Stars captain Biagio Lerario added a rebound goal to make a 6-4 final.
