Capitols Chase Payback against Dubuque at Coliseum

Madison Capitols News Release
Madison, WI - The Madison Capitols (6-4-0) will look to avoid a second consecutive loss and seek some retribution when they host the Dubuque Fighting Saints (8-3-0) on Friday at the Alliant Energy Center for WJJO $1 Beer Night. Puck drop will be 7:05 p.m.
It is the second meeting between two of the top-four teams in the Eastern Conference. Dubuque took home a barn-burning 6-5 win on Sept. 26 in each team's regular season opener at the Mystique Community Ice Center.
Madison opened the scoring that night with three first period goals, and by night's end, both Guillaume Leclerc and Tyson McLellan had recorded a pair of goals, while Sam McCormick added his first of the season. Leclerc also recorded the first successful penalty shot in Capitols history to break a 3-3 tie.
However, the Fighting Saints' attack proved too strong, as Dubuque stormed back to score six of the game's last eight goals to steal the win. The Capitols' only shorthanded goals allowed this season came against the Fighting Saints, who picked up two on opening night.
The Capitols look to re-ignite an offense that, while still scoring more than 3.50 goals per game (2nd in USHL), has quieted considerably since Oct. 17, scoring just eight goals in the last four games.
The Fighting Saints have leaped to the top of the Eastern Conference standings by virtue of the elevated play of goaltender Hunter Miska. Since allowing five goals in his first USHL start against Madison, the netminder has had five games allowing less than three goals, and he has won his last five starts overall.
Garrett Metcalf and Ryan Edquist have been major reasons why the Capitols have yet to lose back-to-back games since the first two games of the regular season. The tandem has combined to post a .924 save percentage, and no Capitols' opponent has scored more than three goals in a game since Oct. 9.
The night marks the second WJJO $1 Beer Night of the season. Fans can purchase tickets by calling (608) 257-CAPS (2277) or visiting the Alliant Energy Center box office located on the West side of the building. $1 Beers will be served from the time the doors open at 6 p.m. through the end of the first period.
The Capitols will take the remainder of the weekend off before returning to Dubuque to take on the Fighting Saints next Friday at 7:35 p.m. Madison returns home on Saturday, Nov. 14 against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at 7:05 p.m.
Tickets to upcoming Capitols home games can be purchased by calling (608) 257-CAPS or by visiting www.MadCapsHockey.com.
