Chicago, Ill. - The Stars used a three-goal third period to power past the Chicago Steel, 5-2, in Fox Valley Ice Arena on Saturday night.
Max Zimmer opened the scoring for the Steel at 13:42 of the first when he caught a pass from Jake Jaremko and fired a wrist shot over the glove of Stars goalie Peyton Jones.
The Stars would equalize less than four minutes later when Collin Peters hammered a one-timer past Steel goalie Daniel Vladar to make it 1-1. Anthony Wyse and Ryan Jones picked up the assists.
Tanner Laczynski added to the lead at 6:50 of the second when Mike Gillespie dished him a quick cross-crease feed. The goal marked Laczynski's 22nd of the season and first against his former team.
Lincoln took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission and kept on the gas for the third.
Luke Jaycox scored his first of the season at 2:49 of the third, then Joachim Weberg and Biagio Lerario tacked on two more to make it a 5-2 final.
Jones finished with 24 saves.
