Stars Pick up the 4-3 Overtime Win Behind Dickinson's Heroics

CEDAR PARK, Texas - For the third consecutive game rookie forward Jason Dickinson was the man of the moment with the game-winning goal to lift the Texas Stars to a 4-3 overtime win over the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday night in front of 5,459 fans at Cedar Park Center.
Dickinson's overtime-winner came on a wraparound effort with 1:26 remaining in the frame. The Stars (29-18-3-3) scored three goals in the third period to erase a pair of two-goal deficits and force overtime. Maxime Lagace won his ninth straight game in net with a 33-save performance, and Texas snapped the Monsters' four-game win streak while winning their fourth straight as well.
The Stars and Monsters (26-16-5-3) close out their season series Sunday at 5 p.m. CST at Cedar Park Center.
Trailing 2-0 entering third period, Julius Honka put Texas on the board with a one-time blast from the blue line at 1:43 for a power play goal. The Monsters responded to open up a 3-1 lead off a goal from Lukas Sedlak at 6:31, but then Texas went to work on the comeback effort.
Off a Jesse Blacker shot from the right circle, Brett Ritchie closed the gap to one fighting for a loose puck in the slot to bury a rebound goal at 9:09 for his 13th of the year. Stuck on the penalty kill three minutes later, Curtis McKenzie forced a turnover at the Texas blue line and led a 2-on-1 rush through the right circle to set up Esa Lindell for a shorthanded tally. Lindell's 10th of the season was also the ninth shorthanded goal scored by the Stars this season, and the game was tied at 3-3.
Brad Thiessen suffered the overtime loss with 31 saves for Lake Erie. Saturday's game was the third time in as many meetings that the Stars and Monsters skated to a one-goal decision. Texas has won two of the matchups.
The Monsters opened up their 2-0 lead with a goal in each of the first two periods. TJ Tynan put Lake Erie on the board with a power play goal at 14:55 of the first. Jaime Sifers extended the Monster lead with a point shot that was deflected at 7:22 of the second.
Saturday's game was the just the second time in 22 chances this season that Lake Erie lost a game when leading after forty minutes of play (20-0-2-0), and it was just the second loss for the Monsters in their past seven contests. The other came on Jan. 29 in a 3-2 home loss to the Stars.
Texas finished 1-for-5 on the power play. The Monsters went 1-for-4.
