B-Sens Shut Out Crunch in Ottawa

OTTAWA "" The Binghamton Senators shutout the Syracuse Crunch 2-0 in a home game played in the Canadian Tire Centre in front of a crowd of over 7,000 fans.

The first period held the teams scoreless despite Binghamton outshooting Syracuse 11-4.

The B-Sens looked to take a lead in the middle frame after Fredrik Claesson scored on the power play with less than nine minutes to play, but the goal was waved off after an influx of penalties including an elbowing call on Michael Sdao. The teams went into the final intermission tied 0-0 with the shots at 13-6 in favor of the Crunch.

Kyle Flanagan broke the stalemate with his fifth goal of the year at the 16:35 mark of the third period during a power play. Casey Bailey and Zack Stortini picked up the assists after Flanagan ripped a shot from the blue line past goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. Buddy Robinson pushed it to a final 2-0 game after scoring an empty net goal during a short handed rush.

Driedger picked up the shutout stopping 21 shots while Vasilevskiy stopped 26 shots in the losing effort.

The B-Sens return to home ice both Friday and Saturday next weekend to face off against the St. John's IceCaps at 7:05p.m. both nights.
