San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN JOSE - The San Antonio Rampage (22-22-7-0) fell to the San Jose Barracuda (20-16-5-3) 5-0 in front of 4,696 at the SAP Center on Saturday afternoon. The loss is the most lopsided of the season for the Silver and Black, who were shut out for just the second time of the 2015-16 campaign.

San Jose registered their first goal in the 11th minute of regulation when Ben Smith sent a blast from the point and scored 10 seconds into the Barracuda power play. Despite being outshot 20-8 in the first period, the Rampage took a one-goal deficit into the first intermission.

The Barracuda came out of the first break hungry for more after their barrage of shots in the first 20 minutes of regulation. They got on the board again when Patrick McNalley slipped a wrister past Roman Will, who was screened on the shot. San Antonio looked to answer with a few good scoring chances midway through the stanza, but Aaron Dell stood strong between the pipes to record the first Barracuda shutout of the season. San Jose tallied one more goal at the 10:24 mark and took a commanding 3-0 lead at the second intermission.

The Rampage came into the final period looking to whittle away at the deficit, but despite outshooting the Barracuda 12-10 in the frame, were unable to find the back of the net. San Jose got two more goals from Smith and Bryan Lerg to take a 5-0 win.

Roman Will finished with 38 saves on 43 shots, his highest save total since stopping 44 shots against the Texas Stars on Dec. 26. The Rampage failed to convert on their only opportunity with the man advantage, while San Jose collected one power play goal on three chances.

Lineup Notes

Andrew Agozzino made his return to the ice for the first time since Dec. 20 and he skated on the Rampage's fourth line with Sam Henley and Patrick Bordeleau. Nikita Zadorov also found his way back into the lineup after missing two games due to injury.
