CHICAGO, IL - The Iowa Stars wrapped-up their short two-game road trip with a trip to Chicago to take on the Wolves on Saturday night. The Stars used three power-play goals to defeat the Wolves, 5-1.
Forward Junior Lessard potted his ninth goal of the season at 13:58 of the first period. Lessard's power-play goal was his second in as many games. The 6-0, 200 pound winger registered his 10th goal of the season just :23 seconds in the second period, with Loui Eriksson and Dan Jancevski picking-up the assists. Just under nine minutes later, Toby Petersen scored his team-leading 11th goal of the year. Lessard recorded his third point of the game with an assist. Eriksson gave the Stars a 4-0 lead at 12:48 of the second, with Petersen and Lessard getting the assists. Defenseman Patrick Traverse, in his second game back from injury, scored his second of the year to give Iowa a 5-0 lead at 16:14 of the second. Again, Petersen and Lessard had the assists.
Junior Lessard surpassed Traverse, recording a franchise-high five points in a single game: (2/3/5). Lessard also set a new record for most points in single period with four: (1/3/4).
Goaltender Mike Smith had his bid for his third shutout of the season snapped when Chicago's Pat Dwyer scored at 11:26 into the third period. Smith faced 36 shots en-route to his ninth win of the season.
Lessard was named the Number One Star of the Game, while Smith earned the Number Two honors.
Attendance was 8,198. Power-play chances: IOWA: 3 for 11; CHICAGO: 1 for 7.
