
Stars Drop Final Game of Road Trip to BayHawks

ERIE, Pa. - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, fell 104-98 to the Erie BayHawks tonight to complete their three-game road trip.
The Stars (16-17) were paced by Deonte Burton, who scored an NBA G League career-high 27 points to go with a team-high eight assists in 42 minutes in his first start of the season. In his first career NBA G League start, Justin Reyes tallied his first career 20-point game with 21 points in 42 minutes, his third consecutive game scoring in double figures. Isaac Haas collected double-digit boards for the second time in three games with a game-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points. Quenton DeCosey, who was acquired by the Stars earlier today, tallied 12 points off the bench in 30 minutes of play.
The BayHawks (17-13) were led by Terrence Jones, who scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds off the bench. Atlanta Hawks two-way player Alex Poythress scored 14 points and Jordan Sibert finished with 18 points in 41 minutes. In his first game back with the BayHawks this season, Jaylen Morris scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
There were three lead changes in the first quarter, with the Stars taking a three-point edge (25-22) into the first break. The game was knotted at 31-all with 7:35 remaining in the first half, but the Stars built a 20-point advantage (57-37) courtesy of a 26-6 run in the second frame and entered halftime with a 17-point edge (59-42). The BayHawks responded in the third quarter with an 11-0 run to trim the lead to six points (67-61) with 2:42 remaining in the period and regained the lead (88-87) with 3:53 left in the game. Erie never relinquished its advantage in the final minutes of play, ultimately winning by six points.
The Stars will return to Salt Lake City to begin a home back-to-back set on Thursday, Feb. 7, with "Teddy Bear Toss Night Presented by Dave & Buster's" against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston Rockets affiliate) at Bruin Arena. The game, which tips off at 7 p.m. (MT), will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
