
South Bay Gets Back on Brand in Win over Texas

FRISCO, TX - The South Bay Lakers bounced back in dominant fashion, as they beat the Texas Legends, 148-114, on Saturday night. Alex Caruso tallied 19 points and a career-high 16 assists for South Bay (13-21), while Jeffrey Carroll and Justin Harper scored 25 points apiece. Kostas Antetokounmpo paced the Legends (13-23) with a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Carroll led the Lakers to an early 12-point lead after one, 34-22, as he scored 10 points in the first quarter alone. South Bay maintained their 12-point advantage, 65-53, going into the half as Andre Ingram and Scott Machado combined for 16 points off the bench in the second quarter.
South Bay extended their lead to 24 points after three, 104-80, behind 11 points in the quarter from Travis Wear. Harper scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, as the Lakers finished off their convincing win on the second night of a back-to-back.
Antetokounmpo's double-double led the Legends as Keith Hornsby scored a team-high 21 points. Vander Blue added 20 points in his first game against his former team, while Xavier Rathan-Mayes (20 points) and Donte Ingram (12 points) also scored in double figures.
Caruso got everyone involved en route to his career-high 16 assists, while Carroll and Harper were a dynamic scoring duo. Wear (22 points, 11 assists) and Johnathan Williams (12 points, 13 rebounds) also grabbed double-doubles for the Lakers. Machado finished with 14 points and six assists and Jemerrio Jones tallied 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.
South Bay will return home to host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Friday, February 8 at 7:00pm PT from the UCLA Health Training Center.
