Suns Shoot Lights out Too Little Too Late against Magic

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona Suns couldn't miss in the second half, but unfortunately for the home team, the Lakeland Magic didn't miss much either.
The Suns made 24-of-37 (.649) from the floor in the second half and 8-of-16 (.500) from distance in their 108-99 loss on Friday night at the Findlay Toyota Center. Still, the Magic never trailed after falling behind 8-7, winning for the eighth time in nine games and for the 10th time in 12 games.
The Suns (7-28) weren't able to make it consecutive wins at home even after a strong second half run. The Magic (20-11) made 22-of-41 (.537) from the floor in the first half and 9-of-17 (.529) from distance. They turned that good first half into a strong start to the third quarter, building up a 26-point lead. The Suns were able to get as close as nine points after the third quarter and at the final buzzer.
For the game, the Suns actually outshot Lakeland 40-of-76 (.526) to 37-of-72 (.514). Free throws cost NAZ in this one, as they made just 9-of-19 (.474) from the charity stripe, a season-low percentage. The Magic made 21-of-26 (.808) from the stripe.
George King led the Suns with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-6 from downtown, and seven rebounds. Retin Obasohan achieved his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 assists, setting a career-best mark with the latter. Also in double figures were Hollis Thompson (13 points on 6-of-11 shooting, five assists, four rebounds), Eric Stuteville (12 points on 6-of-7 shooting, four rebounds) and Aaron Epps, who led the bench with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting and six rebounds.
Lakeland's BJ Johnson led all scorers with 21 points and four steals. Amile Jefferson recorded Lakeland's lone double-double with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 12 rebounds. Anthony Brown poured in 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-7 from distance, to go with five rebounds. Antonio Campbell led the bench with 14 points.
The Suns will stay put for the second game of a back-to-back set tomorrow against the Delaware Blue Coats during the team's second annual Aloha Fest at 7 p.m. The Magic will head further west to take on the Stockton Kings on Sunday at 2 p.m. MT.
