Indiana Mad Ants News Release
Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants (16-15) fell to the Grand Rapids Drive (14-18), 117-95, at the DeltaPlex Arena on Saturday night. It was the second night of a back-to-back for both teams.
Grand Rapids rallied from a 10-point first-half deficit to defeat Fort Wayne for the second time this season.
Zach Lofton led all scorers with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting off the bench for Grand Rapids.
Rob Gray and Stephan Hicks tied for a team-high 15 points on the night.
With his first basket in the third quarter, Hicks surpassed 2,000 points in his G League career. Hicks joins a group, featured by only Ron Howard and Walker Russell, as the only players in franchise history to reach the 2,000-point plateau in their Mad Ants career.
Finishing with 2,004 points at the conclusion of Saturday night, Hicks now is one of only 68 players in NBA G League history to surpass 2,000 career points.
Indiana Pacers assignees Alize Johnson and Ike Anigbogu were the only other Mad Ants to finish the night in double figures. Johnson totaled 12 points, while Anigbogu finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Saturday night was the third loss this season on the second night of a back-to-back sequence.
Isaiah Whitehead and Henry Ellenson each tallied 17 points for Grand Rapids. Todd Withers, Marcus Thornton and Dakarai Allen pitched in double-figure scoring efforts as well for the Drive, who saw its lead expand to as much as 25 in the second half.
The Mad Ants finish the brief roadtrip with a Monday matinée against Long Island at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Grand Rapids will travel to take on Wisconsin on Monday night.
