
Stampede Stomps Down Blackhawks' At-Home Win Streak, 6-2, in First Game of Double Header

WATERLOO, IOWA--The Sioux Falls Stampede ended the Waterloo Blackhawks' seven-game, at-home win streak in a 6-2 victory Friday evening.
Going into the first intermission, the Stampede and Blackhawks had an even split with 11 shots on net and zero points on the board. Sam Harris opened up the Stampede's scoring in the second period with two goals off assists from Maxim Strbak and Nick Ring as well as Maddox Fleming and Alex Rybakov. The Blackhawks answered back with two goals of their own, coming from Garrett Schifsky and Myles Hilman, to tie the game going into the third period.
Starting off the third period, forward Chris Pelosi found the back of the net in his debut United States Hockey League matchup, slating the game-winning goal for the Stampede. Adding to the lead, Jaksen Panzer put another puck behind Waterloo goaltender Jack Spicer, putting the Herd up 4-2. Just one minute and thirty-one seconds later, Nick Ring's puck from the point fought through traffic and into Spicer's net. Closing out the scoreboard and the game, Evan Murr found his shot from the opposite circle, into the Blackhawk's empty net.
Leading the Stampede's drive and earning the first star of the game, Harris picked up two goals and one assist on the night. Ring and Panzer followed Harris with a goal and an assist each for two points. Between the pipes, Xavier Medina worked for his second star of the game accolade, totaling 28 saves and just the two goals allowed. Pelosi's first USHL career goal and game- winning goal earned the New Jersey native his third star nod.
Sioux Falls and Waterloo are back again Saturday evening to close out the two-game travel series at Young Arena. The game begins at 6:05 p.m. from Waterloo, Iowa.
