Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
URBANDALE, Iowa - Des Moines Buccaneers alternate captain Michael Bevilacqua has made his NCAA Division I men's hockey commitment to Bowling Green State University.
Bevilacqua, a 6'3, 200 lbs. defenseman, is a native of Hamburg, NY and has been with the Buccaneers since 2020, skating in 118 games for Des Moines. Bevilacqua, a product of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres Tier 1 AAA program, has 38 career points and is tied for third on the team in scoring this season with 10 points in 19 games.
"As our longest tenured player, Michael embodies what it means to be a Buccaneer," said head coach and general manager Matt Curley.
"His growth on and off the ice during his time here is evident with his on ice play and leadership role he has displayed this season. Bowling Green is getting a great person and player in Michael. I am proud to see him earn this well deserved opportunity!"
Bevilacqua's commitment makes 18 players on the Des Moines active roster that have made Division I college hockey commitments or signed letters of intent.
