Stampede Jerseys to Support War Vets

BOISE, Idaho, February 2, 2011 - The Idaho Stampede, Norco Medical and the Idaho Warriors have partnered up to give recently-returned disabled war veterans access to specially designed wheelchairs that allows Idaho's proudest to play adaptive sports.

The Stampede are auctioning off Blazer jerseys that will be worn on Saturday, Feb. 5 during the Stampede's Portland Trail Blazers Affiliate Night with the end of the game marking the end of the auction. Affiliate Night will also feature in-game entertainment elements supplied by the Blazers, including the jerseys, Blazer Dancers and Blaze the mascot. Members of the NBA franchise's front office will be in attendance.

The money raised from the auctioned jerseys will go towards the purchase of a wheelchair that will be used by the Idaho Warriors, a Treasure Valley-based non-profit organization that helps disabled war veterans play sports, such as wheelchair basketball. Norco Medical and the Kissler Foundation, with the help of other local businesses, are assisting in the purchase of the other wheelchairs.

The Stampede play the Reno Bighorns Feb. 4 and 5, with tip-off coming at 7 p.m. at Qwest Arena.
