
Stampede Drop One To Skyforce

BOISE, Idaho, February 3, 2010 - In their first contest this season, the Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Idaho Stampede 121-110 in Boise.
The first quarter was evenly matched as both teams scored 31 points. Alexander Johnson led the way for the Skyforce with 12 points and five rebounds while Lance Allred had 10 points and three boards for the Stampede.
Although there were 11 lead changes in the first half, the Skyforce led the charge in the second quarter outscoring the Stampede 29-23. As the teams headed to the locker room at halftime Sioux Falls led 60-54.
Both teams came out strong in the third quarter but the Stampede weren't able to hold back Sioux Falls who once led by 19 points. Reggie Williams scored 12 points for the Skyforce in the quarter while the Stampede's Donnell Taylor contributed seven points and Roberto Bergersen pitched in five.
"I thought they did a great job in the second half," said Stampede Head Coach Bob MacKinnon. "They did an excellent job of getting the right people shots."
During the fourth quarter the game pace quickened and the Stampede were leading the race. They cut the lead down to six points with just over seven minutes to go. However, the charge wasn't enough as the clock expired leaving Sioux Falls with the win.
The Stampede finished with six players scoring in double figures including Taylor with a game high 29, Bryson McKenzie with 15 points and 12 rebounds, Allred with 14 points, Lance Hurdle with 12, and Bergersen and Andre Barrett with 10 points each.
Sioux Falls had five players score in double figures including Reggie Williams with a team high 25, Alexander Johnson with 21 points and 16 boards, Raymond Sykes with 20 points, Chris McCray with 19, and Greg Stiemsma with 11.
"I was pleased with our team offensively and defensively," said Sioux Falls Head Coach Tony Fritz. "The road has been good to us this trip."
The Stampede will get a second chance at the Skyforce as both teams play again this Friday night in Sioux Falls. The Stampede then take on the Dakota Wizards in Bismarck on Saturday night. NBA D-League fans can watch all games online by logging onto nba.com/dleague.
