Rio Grande Valley Vipers News Release
MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League announced today that Rio Grande Valley Vipers All-Star forward Mike Harris (6-6, 235, Rice) is a part of the NBA D-League Haier Shooting Stars Competition during NBA Development League Dream Factory Friday Night presented by Haier on February 12 from 9-to-10:00 p.m. at Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas at the Dallas Convention Center.
NBA D-League Haier Shooting Stars makes its first appearance at NBA D-League Dream Factory Friday night presented by Haier, and features 12 NBA D-League stars competing in four teams of three in a two-round timed shooting event. The Haier Shooting Stars contest features six numbered shooting locations of increasing difficulty, with each team attempting to make all shots in numeric order in the fastest time. Each team will select a specific player rotation to follow throughout the competition. Each shot must be made before the next player begins shooting in succession. Teams have up to two minutes to complete the entire shooting course and the team that completes all six shots in the least amount of time is declared the winner. In the case of a tie, a shoot-off will be used to determine the winner.
Harris, who is second in the league in scoring at 26.8 points, fourth in rebounding at 10.1 per game and sixth in field goal percentage (.582), also earned NBA Development League Player of the Month for January and Performer of the Week for games played from January 11-through-17. He is one of three Vipers players selected to play for the Western Conference All-Star team.
