St. Cloud Splits Two-Game Series with Willmar

Willmar, MN - Gus Steiger (South Dakota State) hit his fourth home run of the season, but St. Cloud (23-16) dropped the series finale to Willmar (23-16) by a score of 7-2.

Trailing 2-0 in the top of the seventh inning, Steiger blasted a 2-run home run over the left field wall to tie the game 2-2. He has hit two of his team-high four home runs at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Ben Dotzler (Creighton) gave the Rox a strong start on the mound, allowing one run in five innings pitched. He was followed by Max Rippl (Kent State), Justin Wick (Creighton), Drew Garrett (Johnson County CC) and Hance Smith (California-Berkeley) on the mound.

The Rox will take on the Bismarck Larks on Sunday in North Dakota. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m.

St. Cloud returns home on Tuesday, July 9 against Rochester at 7:05 p.m. Tyler's Amazing Balancing Act will be performing throughout the game presented by Brandl Motors. It's also Rox Baseball Cap Giveaway presented by Franklin Graphics to the first 250 fans.
