Kalamazoo Growlers News Release

Kalamazoo, MI - Due to inclement weather and poor field conditions, tonight's doubleheader between the Kalamazoo Growlers (20-17) and Kokomo Jackrabbits (17-20) has been suspended. The remainder of today's first game will be played as a doubleheader on August 8th at 5:05 pm. The game will resume in the top of the 3rd inning. The second game will begin 30 minutes after the first's conclusion. Tonight's second game will be played a doubleheader on August 9th.

After a scoreless first inning, Kokomo's offense exploded with six runs on six hits to grab an early 6-0 advantage. The Growlers quickly responded with five runs on six hits in the ensuing frame to trim the deficit to 6-5.

The rally began with back-to-back RBI singles from Clay Owens (USC) and Dakota Kotowski (Missouri State) to make it 6-2. Kalamazoo added three more with RBI singles courtesy of Austin Knight (Tennessee), Rudy Maxwell (Duke) and Zack Gelof (Virginia) to cut the margin to a one-run game.

The Kalamazoo Growlers will now embark on a four-game road trip starting Sunday afternoon, July 7, traveling west to face the Rockford Rivets for the opener of a two-game series. First pitch from Rivets Stadium tomorrow is slated for a 4:05 p.m. ET start.
