The SeaWolves dropped both games of Sunday's doubleheader to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 5-3 and 6-3 at The Diamond.
Richmond grabbed a first inning lead against Erie starter Kyle Ryan in game two. Tyler Graham led off with a single, moved to second on a groundout and to third on a Jarrett Parker single. Mario Lisson lifted a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Graham for a 1-0 lead.
The SeaWolves tied the game in the top of the second against Richmond starter Jack Snodgrass. Steven Moya singled and moved to third on a Dean Green double. Francisco Martinez with an infield single brought home Moya making it 1-1.
Erie grabbed the lead in the top of the third. Eugenio Suarez bunted his way aboard and stole second. Suarez moved to third on an Aaron Westlake groundout and scored on a fielder's choice making it 2-1.
The Flying Squirrels tied the game in the bottom of the third when Matt Duffy belted his first home run of the season.
Richmond grabbed the lead once again in the last of the fourth. With a man at first, Eliezer Zambrao singled putting runners on for Kelby Tomlinson. Tomlinson singled home Ryan Lollis for a 3-2 lead. Graham singled loading the bases for Duffy. Duffy promptly cleared the bases with a double down the left field line for a 6-2 Richmond lead.
In the top of the fifth, Wade Gaynor doubled off the wall in left with his fifth double of the series to extend the inning for Moya. Moya popped up a ball over the infield that fell in for a double, scoring Gaynor, making it 6-3.
Ryan (2-5) dropped his third straight, allowing six runs on nine hits with a walk and four strikeouts in four innings of work.
