
Ducks Pick up Two Against Harrisburg to Lead Series

(Akron, Ohio) May 13, 2014 - In the resumption of Monday night's game, the Akron RubberDucks (25-13) picked up a 10-3 win over the Harrisburg Senators (11-25). The Duck's recorded another victory, 7-6, over the Senators in Tuesday evening's regularly scheduled game, leading the series 2-0 at Canal Park.
Monday evening's game resumed in the seventh inning at 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the regularly scheduled game at 6:35. Akron scored a season single-inning high seven runs in the bottom of the seventh, with a grand slam by Ronny Rodriguez highlighting the inning. Akron reliever Enosil Tejeda (2-0) earned the 10-3 win for the Ducks, and Rafael Martin was charged with the loss.
After a 30-minute intermission, Duke von Schamann and Blake Schwartz (0-7) started the regularly scheduled game for the RubberDucks and Senators, respectively. Akron was first to put a run on the board, with Tyler Naquin hitting a sacrifice fly, driving Rodriguez home. Joe Wendle extended the Ducks lead to 3-0 with a two-RBI double in the fourth, sending Tony Wolters and Bryan LaHair across the plate.
The Senators cut their deficit and took a 5-3 lead in the top of the fifth. Akron's Jordan Cooper (4-0) relieved von Schamann after 4.2 IP. The starter allowed eight hits, five earned runs, and struck out two batters. Cooper would earn the win for the RubberDucks, allowing one hit during his 1.3 innings on the mound.
The Ducks hit a three-run streak to take back the lead in the bottom of the fifth, with Justin Toole, Naquin and Tyler Holt scoring. Shawn Armstrong closed out the 7-6 Akron victory, picking up his sixth save and leaving a Senator stranded on third.
The Akron RubberDucks and Harrisburg Senators will return to Canal Park Wednesday morning at 10:35 a.m. to finish out their three-game series. Gabriel Arias (4-2, 3.90) will start for the Ducks, and Brad Meyers (0-0, 1.93) for Harrisburg.
The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2014 season is its 18th since moving to Canal Park and its first since becoming the RubberDucks.
