Richmond Flying Squirrels News Release
The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, have announced today that they will be adding a second fireworks show to Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday, May 29th presented by Virginia 529 Savings Plan.
"One of the many ways we're celebrating this Virginia529 Day is with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, a team that stresses through its sport and community work the importance of hard work and goal setting to gain the skills and education necessary to enhance all our lives," said Mary G. Morris, Chief Executive Office of the Virginia College Savings Plan.
"The Virginia College Savings Plan's goal- on 529 Day and throughout the year - is to help more people plan and save in tax-advantaged programs for higher education at public and private technical schools, community colleges and universities in Virginia, across the country and around the world," Morris added.
Saturday night will also feature a special appearance from the Phillie Phanatic. The Phanatic, the official mascot of the Philadelphia Phillies and known for his zany antics, will be appearing at The Diamond for the only time this season.
The fireworks extravaganza will follow the game, immediately after Launch-a-Ball. Following the fireworks show, Kids 14 and under Run the Bases courtesy of RoomStore.
