New Britain Rock Cats News Release

NEW BRITAIN, CT - New Hampshire's Kyle Drabek turned in another impressive start and was backed up by a 17-hit offensive outburst led by shortstop Jonathan Diaz - who had four doubles and three RBI - as the Fisher Cats downed the Rock Cats, 11-6 on Wednesday night.

Drabek (6-4) limited the Rock Cats to two runs on six hits through seven innings. Rock Cats' starter David Bromberg matched Drabek in the early portion of a game that started as a close battle. The Rock Cats took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Brandon Roberts reached base on a walk and came around to score on Erik Lis' force out to second. The lead didn't last long, though, as the Fisher Cats answered back in the top of the second. Shawn Bowman led off with a base hit to center. With one out, Bromberg then walked two batters - sandwiched between a pop out that shortstop Chris Cates caught in shallow left field - to load the bases. Darin Mastroianni delivered a line drive single to center top score Bowman and tie the game.

In the fourth, the Fisher Cats took their first lead on Diaz' RBI double. Brian Jeroloman followed with an RBI single to take a 3-1 lead.

The Rock Cats closed the gap in the fifth when Jair Fernandez opened the inning with a shot off the left field wall that resulted in a triple. Chris Cates knocked him in with a groundout that was fielded by Drabek.

Bromberg (2-3) served up back-to-back doubles in the sixth, including Jeroloman's RBI two-base hit, before turning the ball over to the bullpen. He finished with four runs on nine hits through six innings. Joe Testa was struck for four runs on three hits and two walks in one inning of relief.

Erik Lis slugged a two-run homer for the Rock Cats in the bottom of the eighth.
