Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators collected ten hits, but managed just one run, and fell 3-1 to the Bowie Baysox on Wednesday night at Metro Bank Park. Paid attendance was 3112.

The game was scoreless through four innings, before the Baysox (23-23) scored a single run in the fifth. Robbie Widlansky led off the inning with a double, and Bowie managed to bring him home without another hit, walk, or sacrifice. Widlansky moved to third on a wild pitch from starting pitcher Aaron Thompson, and scored on the same play, as catcher Jhonatan Solano threw the ball into left field, committing an error.

Thompson (2-6) gave up just that one run through six innings, and then allowed a solo shot to Joel Guzman to lead off the seventh. That made the score 2-0, and Thompson exited after the inning with that deficit. Bowie starter Zach Britton (4-3) also went seven innings, and did not allow a run in earning the win. Pat Egan threw the final two innings, and picked up his third save.

The Senators (22-24) scored their lone run in the ninth, as Solano drove in Michael Martinez with a sacrifice fly. There were three hits in the inning, but Danny Espinosa grounded out to end the ballgame with the tying run on second base.

With the ten hits in the game, the Sens raised their team average to .227 on the season. Jesus Valdez and Marvin Lowrance each hit safely twice, with Coon, Martinez, Solano, Chris Marrero, Ofilio Castro and Edgardo Baez each adding one hit. All ten Senators hits were singles.

The Sens look for a series split with Bowie on Thursday night at 7 PM, when LHP Tom Milone (4-1, 3.04) takes the mound against RHP Steven Johnson (1-3, 3.88) of the Baysox. Radio coverage of the game begins at 6:45 PM, on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
