The Everett Silvertips Paul Van de Velde had three goals in a 5-2 win over the over the Spokane Chiefs on Thursday night in Kennewick, WA dropping the Chiefs to 1-3 in the pre-season. Spokane has one game remaining before the regular season begins with a Saturday date versus Tri-City in the Americans annual Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament.

The Silvertips Corey Tyrell opened the scoring at 13:49 of the first before Van de Velde tallied twice in the second 36-seconds apart, at 5:09 and 5:47.

Mike Aviani, a 16-year-old Chiefs rookie, put Spokane on the board at 15:02 of the third with assists coming from Mike Betz and Mitch Holmberg. Just 32-seconds later, Van de Velde completed his hat-trick and put the 'Tips on top 4-1. Shane Harper assisted on all of Van de Velde's goals.

Blake Gal scored the Chief's lone power play goal on seven chances with 43-seconds remaining. Everett finished the game with a Dale Hunt empty net goal at 19:38. Spokane's Alex Wright made 10 stops on 13 chances while Chase Martin, who played the final 27:02, stopped 10 of 12.

The Chiefs outshot Everett 32-25, including 14-5 in the first, and finished the night 6-6 on the penalty kill.

Saturday's game begins at 7:00.

The Chiefs will open the regular season with a pair of road games in Prince George on Friday, September 18th and Saturday, September 19th.

Tickets for all regular season home games, including Bud Light Opening Night on Saturday, September 26th versus Tri-City, are on sale now at the Chiefs office and at all TicketsWest locations. The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a collector's edition 25th anniversary puck courtesy of The Black Book by Hagadone Directories.
