Brandon, Manitoba -- The Brandon Wheat Kings improved their Western Hockey League pre-season record to 3-0 Friday night with a 5-4 victory over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors in the opening game of a weekend home and home series.
Jesse Sinatynski's powerplay goal with just over two minutes remaining in the third period was the winner for the Wheat Kings, who close out their 4-game pre-season schedule Saturday night in Moose Jaw.
Sinatynski's goal cane four minutes after the Warriors had tied the score on a two man advantage. In fact, seven of the 9 goals scored in the game came on the powerplay, including two by Brandon forward Jay Fehr.
Jesse Hall and Mark Schneider rounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings, who were outshot 36-33. 17-year old rookie Jordan DePape added three assists for the home team.
Veteran netminder Andrew Hayes made 32 saves to record the win, his second in three days.
