Saginaw Spirit News Release

SAGINAW, MI - On Saturday night, the Saginaw Spirit (16-17-2-1 35 points, 4th West Division) look to take third place from the grasp of the Soo Greyhounds (16-15-3-1 36 points, 3rd West Division) at The Dow Event Center.

Tonight's matchup marks the fourth of eight meetings this year between the divisional rivals with the Saginaw Spirit winning the first three games of the season series. On Monday night, the Spirit soared past the Hounds thanks to a four-goal third period. The two points put the Spirit in a third-place tie with the Hounds for the time being until Sault Ste. Marie gained a point in Windsor on New Year's Eve in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Spitfires.

With a win tonight in regulation, the Spirit would move into third place in the West Division and into the seventh position in the Western Conference.

The Greyhounds are led by 2015 first round pick of the Boston Bruins Zachary Senyshyn who is currently seventh in the league with 22 goals. With Brandon Halverson at World Juniors, goaltender Joseph Raaymakers has started the last five games for the Greyhounds posting a 3-1-0-1 record.

The Spirit are 7-2-1-0 in their last 10 games led by stellar goaltending from Evan Cormier and the offensive prowess of Artem Artemov. The Russian Import has 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) in the 10-game stretch for the Spirit.

The Spirit and Greyhounds drop the puck tonight at 7:05 from The Dow Event Center.
