Luchuk Leads Spits Past Firebirds in Flint

(Flint, MI) - Aaron Luchuk led the way with two goals and two assists and Mario Culina got the win in goal in his first Ontario Hockey League start as the Spitfires beat the Firebirds 6-2 in front of 3,622 at the Dort Federal Credit Union Saturday.

Brendan Lemieux (20), Hayden McCool (6), Cole Carter (5) and Bradley Latour (12) had the other goals for Windsor (22-10-5-0), which has won six of its last seven games.

Culina, who was recalled from the Soo Thunderbirds earlier in the day, made 14 saves in the victory.

Luchuk's second of the game put it out of reach at 5:31 of the third period. It also made him the second Spitfire, along with Lemieux, to reach the 20-goal plateau on the night.

Connor Chatham (11) and Stephan Seeger (2) had the goals for Flint (14-17-2-2), which was outshot 45-16.

The Spitfires are right back at it Sunday afternoon, as the Saginaw Spirit visit the WFCU Centre (2:05).
