Erie Otters News Release

Erie, PA - In their first game of 2016 the Erie Otters won in a hard fought battle with Hamilton Bulldogs lead by veterans Darren Raddysh and Nick Betz.

Erie got off to a slow start that equated to a goal by the Bulldogs Adam Laishram with an assist from ex-Otter Stephen Harper. With four minutes left in the first period Nick Betz leveled the score after slamming the puck home on the doorstep of Hamilton goalie Charlie Graham.

Following a scoreless second period Darren Raddysh broke the silence with a clapper from the point in his 200th game played as an Otter. The shot found its way through multiple bodies to give the Otters the 2-1 advantage. Following a few untimely penalties by the Bulldogs the visitors started to press hard in the Otters zone testing goaltender Jake Lawr. The 18-year-old was appearing in just his 10th game this season but was solid between the pipes stopping 18 of the 19 shots that came his way.

The Otters are back on the ice tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Hamilton to face the Bulldogs in a home and home series, puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
