
Spirit Look to Get Back on the Winning Track on Home Ice

The Saginaw Spirit met up with the Peterborough Petes Friday, December 13th at The Dow Event Center and fell to the Petes with a score of 5-2.
The Petes scored 2 goals in the first 8 minutes of the first period. The first goal entered the net off the stick of Stephen Pierog from Anthony Stefano and Chase Hatcher 5:15 into the period. The second goal was created by Jonatan Tanus at 7:44. The Spirit struck back with a goal that flew past Petes goalie Andrew D'Agostini on an effort by Cody Payne from Mitchell Stephens and Nick Moutrey at 9:43. The Petes struck again at 15:43 with a nifty skate pass from Anthony Stefano to Stephen Pierog for the goal.
The second period began with a Spirit shorthanded goal scored by Dylan Sadowy from Jesse Graham at 3:18. The Petes did not leave the gap at one goal for long, as they scored goal number four from Jonatan Tanus assisted by Brandon Devlin at 10:17. Petes goalie Andrew D'Agostini put up a tough fight, blocking all but one of 15 Spirit shots on goal this period.
The third period endured a scoreless offensive struggle until the Petes scored on an empty net with 6 seconds left in the game. The empty net goal was scored by Eric Cornel from Greg Betzold.
