Lowell Spinners News Release
NORWICH, CONN. - The Lowell Spinners, Class A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have announced a change in the game time for Saturday, June 22, moving the start time from 7:05pm to 6:05pm to accommodate fans hoping to watch the Boston Bruins Stanley Cup game.
The game time change still allows for the post-game Kids Run the Bases and Post-Game Fireworks Show, all apart of Chelmsford Day presented by the Bedford VA Hospital.
"The entire state of Massachusetts has caught Bruins fever," said Spinners President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. "We want each and every fan at LeLacheur Park to have a memorable night and the move of the first pitch will allow for fans to enjoy the game, enjoy the fireworks and still be home in time for the bulk of the Bruins game."
The game, which is already at Standing Room Only, is one of the more popular dates on the Spinners schedule. A salute to Chelmsford includes many of the community's schools and civic groups, including some in-game performances.
The Spinners and the Bruins have a long history in recent years, with over two-thirds of the current roster having appeared at LeLacheur Park over the previous three years. In addition to the Milan Lucic Rock and Jock Softball Game, which returns to LeLacheur Park on August 22. In addition, the Spinners have hosted everyone from Tyler Seguin to Daniel Paille over the past several seasons at Spinners games.
"We look forward to not only welcoming Milan Lucic and his teammates back to LeLacheur Park this summer for the Rock and Jock game, but welcoming them back as Stanley Cup Champions," said Bawmann. "We hope the fans can enjoy Spinners baseball, fireworks and eventually a Bruins win."
