Jamestown Jammers News Release
Jamestown, NY- The Jammers got things back on track on opening night at Russell Diethrick Park with a 12-6 win against Williamsport. Jin-De Jhang kicked off the offensive scoring as he drove a Shane Martin pitch deep over the right field fence. Jhang's team home run lead would be short lived as Danny Collins drilled a pitch with one runner on over the center field fence to give Jamestown a 4-0 lead.
The Jammers would also receive another outstanding performance from their starting pitchers as Cody Dickson got the nod for his first professional start. Dickson turned in three innings of no hit baseball a day after the Jammers pitching had an off night on the mound. Dickson fanned six batters without allowing a hit on the night.
Manager Dave Turgeon turned things over to Jackson Lodge in the fourth inning working with a comfortable lead. The Crosscutters would make things interesting in the inning as they cut the score in half after a solo home run from Zach Green.
The Jammers offense would have the back of Lodge as Jodaneli Carvajal drove in two runs on his first triple of the season to give the home team a 6-2 lead. Jamestown would stay in the drivers the rest of the way as Brett McKinney and Cesar Lopez would tandem to lock down the win. Three separate Jammers would tally a pair of hits on the night (Collins, Espinal, and Fransoso) and Jamestown set their high mark for runs in a game one night after putting six runs on the scoreboard.
The Jammers will be in action again Friday night for game two of the three game set against Williamsport with the first pitch set for 7:05 PM. The 500 fans through the gate will receive a 2013 magnet schedule courtesy of CSEA. Tickets for Friday nights game are still available. If you missed out on the fun of opening night, be sure to bring your friends or the family down to Diethrick Park and have a great time watching some baseball.
