
Lake Monsters Ease to Victory over the CT Tigers

Burlington, VT - The Vermont Lake Monsters eased out a 4-1 victory over the CT Tigers Friday night. After having one hit through the first five innings, the bats came to life for Vermont in the sixth inning. Following back to back singles from LF Tyler Marincov (1-3) and 3B Luis Baez (1-3) the bases became loaded after C Josh Miller (0-3) walked. CF Jaycob Brugman (1-2) stepped into the batter's box and hit a towering grand slam over the right field wall to put the Lake Monsters in front 4-0.
The Tigers found themselves on the scoreboard in the seventh inning after a wild pitch thrown by RHP Derek Hanson that scored 1B Jesus Ustariz (1-2) who walked with one out. The Tigers had their chances of scoring as they left seven runners on base. Tigers first round draft pick RHP Jonathon Crawford made his professional debut starting Friday night. Crawford went two innings allowing no runs on no hits and striking out three.
The Tigers have activated RHP Johnnie Kirkland from the temporarily inactive list and have sent down INF Taylor Johnson to the Gulf Coast League.
The Tigers and the Lake Monsters wrap up their three-game series Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. at Centennial Field. In game the series finale, Connecticut LHP Alex Phillips (0-0, 0.00) is slated to face off against Lake Monsters RHP Gregory Paulino (0-1, 6.75).
