June 21, 2013 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
State College Spikes News Release
STATE COLLEGE, PA - State College Spikes fans will have a blast beginning on Sunday, June 23 as their future St. Louis Cardinals take on the Jamestown Jammers, affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, in a three-game series that features fantastic FIREWORKS, a free team autograph session and, for no particular reason, a Tribute to Bad Break-Ups.
Fans will recognize many of the Jammers as the Jamestown roster features nine players who spent time with the Spikes last year. 2012 Spikes manager Dave Turgeon will also make his return to Central PA at the helm of the Jammers, and pitching coach Mike Steele will oversee the Jamestown mound corps after serving as State College pitching coach in 2009 and 2010.
The fun begins on Sunday with a Family Fireworks Funday at the park as First National Bank presents a fantastic post-game FIREWORKS show after the 6:05 p.m. game. The Spikes will also be helping make miracles happen on Children's Miracle Network Night, with special bats autographed by the Spikes up for bids in a Children's Miracle Network Bat Auction throughout the night.
Prior to the game, fans get to know the Spikes up close and personal at the free team autograph session, then play catch on the field from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. After the game, kids can run the bases after the game thanks to Clinical Outcomes Group, Inc.
Monday night, the Spikes face the Jammers at 7:05 p.m. and fans can get into the park with $1 Outfield Bleacher tickets, then enjoy $1 hot dogs, small sodas and peanuts all night long on Buck Night, presented by 95.3 FM 3WZ.
The series culminates on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m., as the first 500 fans of all ages will receive a cool Spikes t-shirt presented by Penn State Sports Medicine on T-Shirt Tuesday. It's also the first Yuengling Happy Hour of the year, and some folks might need to drown their sorrows as the Spikes pay their Tribute to Bad Break-Ups. Couples counseling will be a must as the Spikes spotlight some of the most sour splits ever during the battle between the future Cards and future Bucs.
